So I did it, (finally) I figured out what I was doing wrong which was, I needed a variable giving the computer info on what the sensor was seeing. That caused me to be able to get the EVSteve program to work and that felt good. I also figured out how to use the LEDs on the Pi hat. Now i'm working on getting the colour sensor working. here is a picture of the code with comments
